One of my favorite delivery Chinese restaurants in the area. The Sesame Chicken is great and the vegetables taste very fresh. The lunch specials are awesome- you can get a dish, fried rice and an egg roll for around $6. I also really like their steamed dumplings (and they actually reheat pretty well in case you don't finish them). My only complaint with this place is that they lack consistency. I have had great experiences and not so great ones. The lo mein often times is too oily as well. Other than that I highly recommend this place if you're looking for cheap Chinese food!

Not stellar, not horrible, this is your run-of-the-mill American Chinese food spot. This place is so close to my office, I can't help but order from here when I get that craving for lo mein. I'm never disappointed, but I've never been blown away either.

I have a love-hate relationship with this restaurant. Sometimes the food can be quite good. But most of the time, they mess up my order and send me the wrong stuff. Idk why every time I order shrimp tempura I get something vaguely approximating it. The first time I ordered it, I got a shrimp sushi roll (??). The second time, a shrimp tempura sushi roll. So we are making progress, I guess.

Ate here for the first time after hearing so many good reviews. I am impressed, I ordered shrimp low mien and it was delicious and extremely hot & fresh tasting for Chinese food. The customer service on the other hand! Not good! I walked up to the counter to order and said hello, and the lady just looked at me, no words. There was small child behind the counter which is a bit unprofessional. & I also noticed a man who obviously works here asleep on the side wall on top of some boxes. For such a nice area I was surprised at things like that. The dine in area was very clean, I would try another place before I came back here.

I ordered a delivery order of sushi lunch (pick two rolls) and crab rangoons. The sushi was pretty good (granted, it can be difficult to screw up a spicy tuna roll and philly roll), though the rolls were a little on the small side. Crab rangoons were pretty great. Delivery was fast, the delivery guy was friendly, and the price wasn't bad either. All in all, a good experience!

It was a late night, heading home from the office. I have seen this Chinese place on the corner a few times and wondered why I never stopping to grab a bite. I pick up my gal and we walk over. I look at the menu, Chinese, Thai and Sushi?!? Why, those are a few of my favorite things. We decide to order some of our go to dishes. I have never seen someone who seems so upset while taking my money as was the cashier. She tells me something in what may have been English and we sit down. The wait wasn't bad, but then again, besides the staff eating at one of the tables, we were the only people in the restaurant. The food comes up, and the cashier starts yelling at us that the food was ready. I sit there for a bit, expecting for someone to bring it to use, after all, I already gave a decent tip for service. I get up to get our food, and the cashier gives us a nice foam plate to use to share the food (come on, at least give us something ceramic). There was no water provided or served with this meal. The food was overly spicy and bland at the same time. As I type this, I am fighting off terrible indigestion form the meal. Atmosphere: 3/5 Food: 2/5 Cost: $$ Service: 1/5 Total: 2/5 -Try anywhere else, Bethesda has a wealth of better restaurants.

I've ordered from this place a couple of times and never been exceptionally impressed. The food is not especially good, but the prices are reasonable. Today I had the fried Tiffany roll, the edamame, and the crab rangoon. The edamame was extremely bland and the fried Tiffany roll was tasty, but had an unusual texture. The crab rangoon was good. The delivery service was extremely poor. I had ordered food today because I was not feeling well and didn't want to leave my apartment. My apartment regularly has food delivered and parking out front with flashers on is never an issue (there were also several legal spots out front today). The delivery woman called me (10 minutes outside the delivery time frame I was given) and barked at me to come downstairs. When I explained that she could park and come upstairs (this was also in my delivery instructions) and told her I was wearing pajamas, she just continued repeating 'come front,' 'come front.' Obviously there was a language barrier, which is okay, but it was so much that I couldn't even tell her what to do. She eventually hung up on me and drove off, which I found out once I got dressed and went downstairs. It took 10 minutes for her to come back (she didn't answer her phone when I tried calling) and I got no apology from the main store. It was an extremely frustrating experience - not to mention the temperature of my food was off by the time it was delivered (something I don't like to play around with with sushi). I won't be ordering from here again.

This place is right down the street from my job . I went here on my lunch break and the service was horrible. The lady at the register was very rude and had a attitude. The wait is very long and the employees eat together at the tables in the restaurant . I went back a second time and it was the samething . I asked for ketchup and the lady just tossed it in my hand. The lady had a very very nasty attitude. The whole staff is probaly family and don't care about the service but the service here is really bad which made me write this review.

Food is decent for a carry out place, just ordered food from here to be delivered and the delivery guy shows up and calls us that he is outside, to come out and get our food. This is while we are all with customers at work, their is a reason why we ordered delivery... To have it delivered. The delivery man waits about 3-5 minutes and decides to come inside. He pulls the door open and slams it on the wall and screams out "did you guys order food?" Our front desk receptionist looks at him and tells him to please wait while we finish with our patients so we can assist you. He kept pouting and kept making noises (sucking his teeth, sighing, rolling his eyes) When we finally did get our food he rushed up "hurry you need to pay for food" we order regularly from this place and have never encountered this type of service. I am very disappointed and our office will never order from this place again!

The restaurant was undergoing renovations at the end of last year so it really wasn't much of a place to go to, but now, it seems newer... so there's quite a decent amount of space to sit and eat. I've mostly gotten take-out. It's your less than average take-out Chinese-American restaurant. The prices are about the same... their food however, is not that great. For instance, their lo mein has usually been quite bland for me... it really is a matter of just adding either a little more salt or soy sauce. Some of their food (my friend got a tofu dish) just doesn't seem fresh. The only few items I can remember actually enjoying are their spring rolls and their egg drop soup. There are other take-out Chinese food places in the area. I would recommend going there before stopping by here.

I'm a fair gal, at least I'd like to think so. I work in downtown Bethesda, and just like the rest of the occupants, I am starving around 11:25ish. Golden City isn't too far, they deliver and let's be real, Chinese food is pretty standard and reliable. The taste, is good---not great, not perfect, not bland or boring, but good. Where I will eat it and feel satisfied and no longer starve to

First time at this place. Ordered Szechuan shrimp and Mongolian beef with a free egg rolls with a coupon. The shrimps were over-breaded and soggy, Mongolian beef should have been named Mongolian onions-as there was minimal amount of meat. Overall, the portions were tiny. The green onions and onions were NOT cooked at all! Customer service attitude of the lady in the front was dismal at best...she didn't look happy at all that I am giving her my money to buy things...you'd think she was doing me a favor...? The free egg rolls were NOT edible...it was just battered roll with zero flavor! Overall, terrible experience...the WORST Chinese food ever! If you are going to stay in business, improve your customer service attitude, don't be cheap on ingredients, and change your chef... you've just lost a potential customer...

First time ordering from Golden City after receiving a menu in the mail. We were looking for a change having ordered from nearly all other chinese restaurants in the area. Our delivery time was estimated to take 60-70 minutes took 30 minutes, so that was a nice surprise, great job! I ordered the General Tsos Chicken which I usually order first when I am trying out a chinese restaurant and I enjoyed it. In some places it was a little too saucy for me but not so much that it would change my feeling about the dish. We also ordered a Chicken Combination Bento Deluxe Box which had a generous amount of meat and sushi pieces and because I am allergic to Avocado, they were able to make my California rolls without avocado which i was happy to see. Not sure why the ratings are low for this place but my first time out I enjoyed Golden City.

This was a terrible experience ending in a delivery man coming to my place of work for the 2nd time and yelling that if I didn't take the food he would be fired. As angry as I was I have to admit I felt kind of bad for the guy. The woman on the phone who kept calling me back to argue with me, and FINALLY admitted she was wrong, deifintely seemed mean enough to do it. I ordered two dishes and they were both wrong. My coworker and I tried to make the best of it but it was just inedible and I literally had to spit it back into the container. I would rather starve than put that horrid mess in my mouth again.

They no longer have the express lunch with pre-made selections. I got a lunch combo platter of Kung Pao shrimp for $6.50 it comes with an egg roll and fried rice. the meal had 5 good-sized shrimp and lots of veggies and peanuts. it was pretty good food at a good price. the staff are brusque and the restaurant has no ambiance. I call ahead and take out, so taste and price are most important to me.

To start with this place is pretty underrated. From outside it looks like a run-of-the-mill takeout joint but having eaten Chinese takeouts obsessively in my lifetime, I rate this relatively higher on food quality. Low-profile place, decent menu (same as any other small-ish chinese restaurant) and decent food. Worth a shot if you are looking for a change from your regular takeout place.

A friend of mine blogged about having crab rangoon over the weekend (I know, right?) and suddenly I was obsessed. I pass Golden City every morning and evening on my way to/from work, but I'd never felt the need to investigate until my sudden quest for creamy, fried crab purses. Several older gentlemen and ladies were exiting the establishment as I was entering, and as I held the door open they told me what great food they had just had. My mouth watered. The inside is exactly what you expect of a chinese food joint: illuminated, plastic picture menu behind the counter, cheap upholstered booths, takeout condiments. After I placed my order I was pleased to notice that strawberry fanta was offered in the beverage fridge. You're going to love me for this if you work in the area: Golden City has a Lunch Express special (from 11:30-2, M-F, pickup only) where you get to choose three dishes (out of 16) for $5.55. I watched a guy order the lo mein, tso's chicken and beef with broccoli to go, and the portions were HUGE. You could easily have dinner leftovers. I'll report back when I take advantage of the deal... for now, I'm glad I was able to stop myself at rangoon #4 :)

This was pretty bad. I got the Beef & Broccoli Chinese Combination Platter and it was just...bad. the rice tasted/smelled a little funky. The beef's texture felt...just not fresh. Egg roll was decent. I've never reviewed on yelp before but I had to for this one. I do not recommend this place.

I'm gonna keep this one pretty simple: 1. Usually lucky if I get all the things I order. 2. Impossible to understand the person on the phone with all the background noise (delivery). 3. Was definitely given food poisoning this past week. Avoid the crab Rangoon. However I agree that they are usually very delicious like the other reviewer said. 4. When I get the food I order, I'm very happy with it (barring the illness). I suggest online ordering

Typical Chinese takeout joint which generic Chinese American style menu. Prices are higher than China House? down the road, but looks a lot less shady. Better quality than Chinatown Express as well. I ordered a bunch of things to last me a couple meals and to also see what this place can produce. This place also gives you teh option of ordering something in a pint rather than a quart. I ordered General Tso's Chicken ($10) better than chinatown express, but needed more meat. The Szechuan string beans ($4.50 pint) were delicious, but overpriced and the Beef and Broccoli ($6.50 pint) was disappointing with the beef being a little too fatty. I also got a free chicken lo mein for purchasing more than $20 worth. total came to $26-$27 for delivery and tip and will last me 5 meals.

I stopped in here to grab a quick bite before my writing class. I wasn't expecting much from this dimly lit, barren, and somewhat neglected setting, and boy was I surprised. The steamed (pork) dumplings--the only item that I ordered--were excellent. They were so well stuffed as to put the dumplings at Chinatown Express to even more shame, the dumpling noodle was fresh and soft, and the pork was tasty and probably fatty. The dipping sauce was good, too. I'm definitely going to stop here next week rather than settle for the Subway down the street and just hope that my good-spirited writing classmates can tolerate another session of our classroom smelling like Chinese grease.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
